About Locks

There are multiple ways to start locks. The beauty is that it is a natural technique. As it becomes more main stream, we get CREATIVE with the ways to get the look. Locks are started with several different techniques but in the end they are all tangled/interwoven hair. The hair is still your hair, it is washed on a regular basis. The time for your hair to lock will depend on the texture of your hair, the SOFTER, the longer the timeframe. It is not impossible but it will take time. Locking is a natural process for coarse hair. This is why THE COARSER THE BETTER for locks.

I have over 20 years of hair/lock work experience.  I not only start and maintain locks, but have had them for years.  I first had  traditional locks (5 years), then Sisterlocks (6 years).  I cut those then started Interlocks (1 year), did the loose natural thing for a few years, and now I am back to Sisterlocks. I love the natural state of our hair and welcome seeing it evolve. It is a way of embracing and accepting ourselves just as we are.

  • How do I wear my hair for the consultation?

    We will install several sample locks so loose hair is required.  Wash and dry your hair as you normally would.

  • How long does it take to do?

    The initial establishment can vary depending on the length and thickness of your hair.  At your consultation the loctician will determine the hours you will need for your install. Sisterlocks can take up to two full days to establish.  Interlocks can take up to one full day depending on the size. 

  • I cannot decide which locks to get, what is the difference between them?

    At your consultation we can discuss the different lock options and look at pictures, and based on your natural hair texture determine the best fit. 

  • What is the Cancellation Policy?

    Retie Cancellation Policy:: You will not be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before your retightening appointment time. Otherwise, you will be charged 50% of service price for late cancellations and 100% for no shows.


    NO SHOW Prevention Policy::Consultation fee is due within 24 hours of booking appointment. Non-paid consultations will be removed.


    ALL services are non refundable once paid. This includes establishment deposits.
